Chapter 5: Society and Inequality in Eurasia/ North Africa Society and the state of in China- Chinese political powers and officials had a lot of say in how the state was shaped, including the laws, what they believed in and how they acted. Philosophers such as Confucius soon made their way in as well. People liked to listen to these philosophers because they had high morals. An Elite of Officials-In 124 B.C.E, Emperor Wu Di established an academy where potential officials were trained in history, literature, art, math and philosophy. By the end of the Han dynasty, the academy had near 30,000 students enrolled. The landlord Class- Most officials came from wealthy families. In china, wealth meant the amount of land someone owned. Serving is different than helping and fixing. Helping is based on inequality or debt. You are helping someone less privileged than you. Once you help someone, they are indebted to you. Instead of feeling satisfied, you feel gratitude. It is less about you and more about the person you are serving. Also, fixing is different than serving. If you are fixing someone, it makes it seem like you see them as broken and you have to fix them. Serving is doing it out of the kindness of your heart and not expecting something in return. " We serve life not because it is broken but because it is holy."

Many of the rulers during the 7th century and on came up with core ideas of the religion them and they're people would follow.  From full on religious ideas to concepts, many of the rulers brought new ideas to the people.  Many of them had the idea of a single god, souls and the importance of love and having an intimate relationship with God. In the 1st century, christianity became a religion for all the people in Palestine, Israel and the eastern Roman Empire.
