The Superior Man has a lot of wise sayings in it. The following were the ones that stood out the most to me. "Without recognizing the ordinances of Heaven, it is impossible to be a superior man." "The object of the superior man is truth, not food." "Poverty and baseness are what men dislike." "The progress of the superior man is upwards, the progress of the mean is downwards." "The superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions." The Master explained what a superior man is and what he brings to the table. This is what people were looking for in a ruler or a pharaoh. They wanted someone that was firm with their word and that word was something they could trust. The superior man needs to be wise but approachable. The Master explains to Tzu-kung that the superior man hates men that pull others down. He hates men that slanders his superiors. When he sees gain to be got, he thinks of righteousness.

What exactly is an empire: they are states and political systems that exercise a coercive power. They usually have one ruler that is the head of the state and the people in the state. The Persian Empire was the biggest and most impressive empire of the world. Unlike anyone else before, their monarchy started taxes and importing and exporting. The start of that is what really pushed this empire to be bigger and better than anyone else. The greeks were also expansive people but instead of being all together in an empire, they were located in close distance to each other. They had a new way of thinking: citizenship. The people were all equal ruled under one law. All things that go up must come down. That is also true for empires. The most frequently asked question is, "Why did they fall?" Most of the time, the answer is so simple, they just got to big and they were too hard to keep up.
